How to Sion?

Can anyone give me a quick strip down on Sion?

I don't really know where to start, and those guides are not exactly agreeing on much beside his name

AP or AD?

AD requires HUGE farming.
But he's very good endgame. Outshrines AP by far.

AP will let you farm easier aswell as have a huge nuke on squishies, all other than that, he's useless when his spells are on cooldown. AP is also better early.


AP: Rabadons deathcap + sorceror shoes/cdr shoes + lichbane is your core build.
After that, you can buy a rylais (ur shield will slow, & it gives u survivability)

I usually buy a abyssal sceptre too, as you are squishy too.

Skilling order: R > W > Q > E

Max W first, start with Q.
Pick E at 4.
Max Q after W.
Pick R whenever available. Use it often, to push or jungle etc. as you don't have high attack damage.

Runes

Summoner spells : ghost + exhaust

Sequence:
Stun > bubble > bubble > e > bubble > ulti >max bubble > max stun > max e > max bubble.

Play: bubble > stun > swing swing > break > repeat > pop ulti when needed

In - out style in teamfights, stay and fight with bubble on if you've properly stacked your E and you got ult up.

Some quick tips, check out an extensive guide if you want more, that's all I can give this quick.

Hmm; I probably want to go AD. I'll take him for a ride in a custom as soon as this damned homework is gone from my desk

Sheen -> Triforce. Stun + Sheen proc does lots of damage, it surprised me.

AP is funnier then AD.

In a tied match after 50 minutes of playing AD is better.

You get tanky both ways (AP in the shield or lifesteal as AD)

Must have spell for sion is ghost.

I prefer AP, makes me laugh a lot.

Love AP sion, his stun nuke is just amazing.

To be honest, sion was my first champ played, and i rarely play with him, but all i can say is that a friend of mine always playing ashe/sion was 1000 ELO
He came to 1200 in 2 days, playing TANK Sion. So i dunno, if that helps seeing that, tanks ain't much of a deal to build up

Well, try out both yourself and see which you prefer. It's not like you have to choose one and play it forever.

Tried AD in a bot game; work well enough. Gonna try AP tomorrow and se which I prefer. and then take him to a normal game

Trust me on this one, play AP sion in solo Q, and when 5-man premade play Crit/Tank.

I mean, 4000 HP, 85% crit chance, around 350 dmg and sick attack speed. Dude is a tower destroyer! Here is the link for a guide...

Try to get a good Taric laning with you.

Don't play AD Sion unless you are free to farm aswell as getting early kills.

AD Sion can be kited WAY too easy.

As i said, try to lane with good Taric, who will kite you when you have 4 sec stun on your disposal? AD Sion is good when you are with 5 friends on skype, that ulti is just too damn good to pass up.

Tank Sion is awesome also.

Sion is awesome period.

AP is safer and quite damaging early-mid-late.

AD is facerape past the 40 minute mark and more beneficial to your team. Although solo q ranked is usually decided by the 15 minute - 25 minute mark.

"Tank" sion is a bit silly really. He isnt rammus. Play him as an offtank/dps and you'll do fine though.

I play premades mostly, so I'll probably lane with a Janna (as my sister plays that char). I'm gonna try out both and see what works for me

I would go with AP Sion, but that's just personal preference I think, since they're both pretty good

If your team has 2/3 ap's and a carry, well, why don't you go tank sion?
with his Op shield, buy abyssal and your off to go.
Maybe a RoA and well, thats enough imo

Could easily try that one as I'm playing tank mostly for my team

The problem (well that actually isn't a problem) is that when you play tank Sion your damage output isn't really good so your main role will be support with the stuns and engaging, yeah its nice, still prefer the AP mode.

I do AP per level runes (about +130 AP @ lvl 18 with 30% new zonyas) and a standart 9/0/21. Starting with a Sapphire Crystal, boots 3, mejay's, rabatons, lich bane, Rilay's, a final item like void staff if needed. You'll get ~800+ AP, now have fun doing a stun / shield explosion / 1 hit combo dealing about 2.5k damage. Plus the shield will make you an tough tank with that kind of AP.

So I pass the tank setup, AP one works great as a off tank/support/burst killer.

yes, you are right , but remember, sometimes you have to do sacrifices.
So if you have to do your role as a tank, do it! Let the carrys deal the damage.
Ofc its always more fun to deal the damage, and get the kills, but remember, in everygame, there has to be THAT someone that has that 0 - 2 - 20 score, and without THAT someone you wouldn't have the score you had in that game. Sometimes THAT someone has to be you.

I agree with you. But as you said in other post most of Ranked games are decided in the first 15~25 minutes. I would pick AP sion in a ranked game if you have a nice team setup don't you agree ? With AP you farm faster, I can reach 150 minions in 15~+ minutes.
